University of Minnesota coach Richard Pitino signed his second recruit of the spring period -- and sixth of the 2015 class -- when Ahmad Gilbert penned his National Letter of Intent on Tuesday, per a release.

The 6-6, 190-pound wing from Philadelphia is expected to join fellow recruits Kevin Dorsey, Jarvis Johnson, Dupree McBrayer, Jonathan Nwankwo and Reggie Lynch on campus this summer.

Gilbert committed to Minnesota two weeks ago, choosing the Gophers over Pittsburgh, Wichita State and others.

"We are very excited about the addition of Ahmad Gilbert," Pitino said in the release. "We set out to add some size on the perimeter and Ahmad brings that. He has the ability to guard multiple positions as well as shoot the 3 ...his future is very bright."

Gilbert averaged 17.6 points, 11 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.1 blocks per game at Constitution High School this past season while leading the Generals to their third state championship in his four-year career.

The Gophers have one scholarship for the 2015 class remaining, should they choose to use it.
