Adrian Peterson said his right ankle is improving with treatment and therapy and he's hopeful that he will be able to play Sunday against Buffalo.

Peterson sprained his ankle in the second quarter against Washington and did not return. He will miss practice again Thursday and is scheduled to test his ankle Friday.

"The swelling has gone down on it, more mobile and my flexibility is getting there too and the soreness is going away," he said. "I'm taking steps forward."

Peterson said he's thankful it's not a high ankle sprain but said he was in considerable pain when it happened. He said he couldn't put much weight on it after he got up.

"I can say initially when it happened it was the worst pain I've felt as far as any type of ankle injury I've had," he said. "But throughout the week the pain has went away."

Peterson said he doesn't need to be 100 percent in order to play Sunday.

"I've played plenty of times and not been 100 percent," he said.
