Budke, Elaine Ann (Lamb) age 77, of Edina, died unexpectedly on May 17th. Born in LeGrande, Iowa to Cleo and Helen Lamb, Elaine grew up in Marshalltown and went on to graduate from Westmar University where she met her husband Melvyn. Upon graduation, Mel attended seminary in Aurora, Illinois where Elaine began teaching elementary school and they started their family. Mel's assignments took them to Waterville, St. Paul, Faribault, Thief River Falls, and Edina, Minnesota. Even after retiring, Elaine continued to be a substitute teacher in Edina and was known for giving out Jolly Rancher candies for good behavior. Elaine was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and enjoyed reading, book club, chocolate, spending time with her family, watching Twins baseball, playing cards (not cribbage!), and baking cookies. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Richie Lamb, sister-in-law Marge Lamb, nephew Chris Perry, and her loving husband Reverend Melvyn R. Budke, who passed away on the same date, at the same time eleven years ago. Survived by children Carrie (John) Saxon, Jana (Paul Wald) Budke, Tricia (Michelle Freese) Budke; devoted grandchildren Carly Saxon, Tanner and Kayla Wald; sister Shirley (Tony) Sternola; brothers Don Lamb, Gary (Judy) Lamb, Ken (Peggy) Lamb, Larry (Sam) Good; her very special friends the GiGi's; Fiasco family; Valley View Middle School staff and students; many other relatives, friends & neighbors. Memorial services Saturday, May 23, noon at Normandale Hylands United Methodist Church, 9920 Normandale Blvd, Bloomington. Gathering one hour prior to service at church. Visitation Friday, May 22, 4 - 7 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, 5000 W. 50th St, Edina. Private interment prior to memorial service at Lakewood Cemetery.
