Gibson, Richard W. "Dick" of Crosslake, MN, transitioned home to the Lord on February 3, 2017. Born March 13, 1939, to Richard and Ethel Gibson in Minneapolis. Graduated from Mound High School in 1957. Dick spent his youth between Mound and Ellendale, ND. Dick married the love of his life, Jan Supplee, in 1959. Dick and Jan had 2 children, Michele and Rick. They lived in Minnetonka until they retired to Crosslake, where he enjoyed his hobbies of cars, boats and being by the lake. Dick spent his career in the retail business including owning various drug, variety, hardware, and lawn and garden stores at the 7-Hi Shopping Center and in Eden Prairie and Wayzata. Through the years in the retail business he created opportunities for numerous family, friends and people in the community, many of which continue today in the career he helped them start. He was active in other businesses and the community including board positions with Anchor Bank and Methodist Hospital Foundation and a founder of the Minnetonka United Methodist Church. Dick's enjoyment of helping others and being a good friend to so many, meant a life-long contact and interest in your personal story. Survived by his wife, Jan; son, Rick (Lisa) of Orono; son-in-law, Steve of New Brighton; grandchildren: Justin, Jack and Elizabeth; step grandchildren, Justin and Dallas; brother, Jack; sister, Jane; nieces and nephews: Jenny, Matt, Mike and Kris. Preceded in death by his loving daughter, Michele Clarine; and parents, Richard and Ethel. Memorial service will be 1 PM, Saturday, February 11, at Grace United Methodist Church, Pequot Lakes, MN. Visitation one hour before service with luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (in honor of Michele) or donor's choice.
