Joseph Gerard 'Joe' Allen

Allen, Joseph "Joe" Gerard age 59, died in his home in Savage, MN on Thursday, July 11, 2019, from pancreatic cancer. Joe was born in Mpls on Feb. 3, 1960, to Kenneth and Lois Allen (née Schendel) and grew up in Bloomington. A lifelong inventor and craftsman, Joe worked for 28 years at Hennepin Technical College as an instructor of mechanical drafting and design. He was actively involved at church, where he taught Sunday School and crafted games for Vacation Bible School. Joe was a devoted husband and father who loved his family more deeply than could ever be described. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Trudy Allen (née Bell), and his two daughters, Alissa and Jenna. Joe said he didn't need to make a drastic impact on the world; he just wanted to be remembered as a man who was kind to others. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Lois. In addition to his wife and two daughters, he is survived by his siblings Jeff Allen, Linda Allen (Jim Hoffman), John Allen (Barb Champlain), Kathy (Greg) Spencer, and Kenny (Jennifer) Allen. Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16 at Messiah Lutheran Church 16725 Highview Ave., Lakeville, MN.
