Joanne (Hedin) Ahlgren

Ahlgren, Joanne (Hedin) 85, of Needham Massachusetts (formerly of Minneapolis and Washington DC) died June 23rd on a beautiful afternoon at home surrounded by loving family. Born June 9, 1934 in Pennock, Minnesota to Rev. John Melvin Hedin and Minerva (Zwicky) Hedin, she earned a nursing degree from Augustana in Chicago and a bachelor's degree in political science from American University in DC. Married to Andrew "Chick" Ahlgren in 1957, she took pride in her family, she travelled 6 of the 7 continents, and long pursued her love of writing and poetry. She is survived by her children: Lynn Volk, Carol Snitzer, Eric Ahlgren, Sarah Ahlgren, and their families, her cousins and her nephew. Services will be held July 13th, 10:00 am at Grace University Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Burial will be private at Vista Swedish Lutheran Church Cemetery.
