This weekend Northfield MN will play host to the 5th Annual North American Shed Dog Hunting Championships. You may recall I wrote a story about this in 2012 when Outdoor Channel TV star Tiffany Lakosky led a small group of passionate shed hunters through the second year of the event. Read here to see how Tiffany's mom stole the show!

The inaugural event in 2011 featured 12 dogs and their handlers; this year's event has 104 qualifiers from clubs across the country.

"The sport, in general has grown from its roots in Minnesota and Wisconsin and now we see clubs from South Dakota, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, TX and Idaho to name a few." said North American Shed Hunting Dog Association President Tom Dokken. "We even have participants this year from Arizona and New Hampshire. Dokken continued.

Dokken says the competition and testing formula has elevated the competition. "The quality of the dogs and their proficiency has come a long way in the last couple of years" Said Dokken. Handlers and their canine pals can compete for Junior, Senior or Master titles.

Those interested in learning more can attend a free seminar open to the public on how to judge an event at the championship this weekend. Also, schedule to appear are Lee & Tiffany Lakosky and the new star of the Crush, #babycrush Cameron!

Happy (shed) Hunting!
