Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony turn their backs to TV critics

LOS ANGELES - Even die-hard reporters don't like to get up at the crack of dawn on the weekend for anybody, but the breakfast menu Saturday at the TV critics press tour was too enticing:Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony reunited? Delicious.

Univision kicked off the 7:30 session with a lukewarm Mexican meal and Bloody Marys that were largely passed over by working journalists. Then there was a panel on a Latino version of "The Biggest Loser." Finally, after much spectacle and stalling, the main event: Lopez and Anthony on stage to talk about "Q Viva: The Chosen," a new talent show.

What's it about? Can't really tell you. The panel, which also included choreographer kept asking each other softball, inane questions, not allowing any critics to ask questions. Finally, Jonathan Storm of the Philadelphia Inquirer stood up and pointed out there was only seven minutes left and none of us had had a chance to participate.

"Take it easy," Anthony said, as a network rep tried to keep the session away from us. With the room about to revolt, the panel finally relented and took questions - two of them - before the lights went down and a group of dancers and musicians kicked in a performance that was tailormade for the Univision cameras, not the writers.

Then, the couple that split last July was ushered off the stage. Lopez, who seemed to be the only one on the panel that realized something had gone terribly wrong, did say that working with her ex was great. ."We're having a ball," she said.

Writers, including myself, did try to track down the couple and was successful as they headed into a private section of the hotel, but they didn't stop to talk to anyone - and that includes Mario Lopez who was sitting in a hallway.

Lesson: Next time Univision has a morning session, sleep in.
